Negeri Sembilan footballer Mika falls prey to snatch thieves in KL

PETALING JAYA: Negeri Sembilan FC footballer Miguel Ángel Junco Martínez, known by fans as Mika, was robbed by snatch thieves in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Martinez, posted on Instagram that he lost a gold chain to snatch thieves on a motorcycle. He said he hoped that “someone put a stop to all these things”, a reference to incidents involving football players in Malaysia.

Negeri Sembilan FC confirmed the snatch theft and said Martinez was unharmed. A police report has been lodged.

Last month, Terengganu FC winger Akhyar Rashid was attacked by two robbers upon returning from training while Selangor FC winger Faisal Halim was left in critical condition after being splashed with acid at a shopping mall.

JDT midfielder Safiq Rahim, meanwhile, had his car windscreen smashed by unknown assailants. Police have yet to arrest anyone in all three cases.
